A memorable first competitive match ends in a 3-2 away victory.

Hedge End Town U12s marked a special moment in the club’s history with a fantastic 3-2 victory in their first-ever competitive fixture.

For a newly formed team playing together competitively for the first time, the young Town side showed tremendous determination, teamwork and character to come from behind and secure a memorable win.

The opposition started the match with the kick-off, but Freddie.A was quickly into the action, winning the ball and looking to drive Town forward. Both sides started brightly, with the game quickly developing into an entertaining end-to-end contest.

The hosts created an early opportunity, but Harry was alert in the Town goal to make a comfortable save. Despite some encouraging spells of possession and some excellent passing from Hedge End, the opposition took the lead following a counter-attack.

Town responded positively and continued to play with confidence. Jonny came close to equalising with a powerful effort from around 20 yards, but his shot found the side netting.

One of the best chances of the half came when Freddie.A played a through ball to Freddie.S, who found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper. However, the keeper was quick off his line to make an important block.

Town continued to defend well and create chances, with Max and Freddie.A combining effectively as the team looked to build attacks. Harry was also having an excellent game in goal, making several important saves and using his kicking to launch Town attacks.

Alex showed great control when bringing the ball down from one of Harry’s long kicks, while Freddie.A tested the goalkeeper from a free kick. Town continued to push forward but had to remain alert to the opposition’s dangerous counter-attacks.

Harry produced one of the saves of the match when he made a full-stretch diving save from a powerful long-range effort.

Town continued to work extremely hard, but despite some excellent passages of play, they were unable to find an equaliser before half time.

Unfortunately, Hedge End suffered another setback when a pass back to Harry leaves him under pressure and he has tried to turn the defender left then right but a toe on the ball makes the score 2-0 down at half time.

Despite the scoreline, the young Town players continued to battle and went into half-time determined to turn the game around.

Hedge End Town came out for the second half full of energy and belief.

After some excellent work from Jorge and Alex, Town began to create more opportunities. The breakthrough finally arrived when Alex provided a superb assist for Freddie.A, who turned his defender before calmly finding the bottom corner to make it 2-1.

Millie came close to an equaliser after being played through on goal. She did brilliantly to round the goalkeeper but was unfortunate to see her effort finish just wide of the post.

Hedge End continued to press for the equaliser, with Freddie.S and Millie causing problems for the opposition defence. Town were unfortunate not to be awarded a penalty following a challenge in the box, but the players kept their focus and continued to attack.

Their persistence was rewarded when Jorge played an excellent pass through to Jayden.B, who finished superbly to level the score at 2-2.

With the match now finely balanced, Town continued to create chances. Jonny and Jayden combined well, while Millie remained a constant threat going forward.

The decisive moment came when Freddie.A was brought down in the penalty area. This time, the referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot.

Freddie.A stepped up to take the penalty and confidently fired his effort to the left of the goalkeeper with plenty of power making the score 3-2 to Hedge End.

The final stages of the match were tense, with the opposition immediately looking for a response. Town were forced to defend several dangerous attacks and corners, but Harry remained calm and reliable in goal, making another important save before kicking the ball upfield.

The whole team continued to work incredibly hard until the final whistle.

After an exciting and competitive match, the final whistle blew to confirm a 3-2 victory for Hedge End Town U12s.
